This one’s special – a rare chance to jump into something really cool! #RemionCrew is looking for a control system guru who is excited by technical challenges, thrives in a slightly engineer-like team, and wants to join a company facing more growth years ahead. Do you already have experience as a control system architect? Would you be interested in building a completely new machine control system from scratch? If you answered yes, keep reading and see if your next career step could be at Remion.
Top five reasons to apply:
- A completely new project: This isn’t an update from the old to the new but rather starting entirely from scratch. Additionally, you’ll get to lead a long-term product development project.
- The role is challenging and, of course, rewarding. In this project, you’ll see the results of your work firsthand while learning and evolving over time.
- We are hiring strong experience and vision. We require solid experience and insights, which we hope you’ll also share with others.
- No tough IT times here: We are a fast-growing company of about 40 employees. There’s no unnecessary bureaucracy, and even the CEO is always approachable and always ready to help.
- Our team has diverse experience ranging from professionals at large companies to recent graduates. We’re united by a drive for solving technical challenges, a general interest in technology, strong professional pride, and a genuine goal for high-quality work.
Not just tweaks – a product for future needs
This is a 5–10-year project to build a completely new machine control system. It’s not about tweaking an existing product but designing entirely from scratch. To ensure we avoid past pitfalls, we’ll gather data on what hasn’t worked before. We will rely on your experience and expertise in defining requirements. Our goal is to create a product that meets today’s and future needs. This is not a one-person project, but you will set the direction and lead the technical implementation. Significant resources will be invested in this project, and together we’ll do everything possible to succeed.
We aim for the project kick-off to happen in Q1 of 2025. During the initial phase, this will be a solo project, but later, we’ll build a team around you.
Role of the Control System Guru
Your responsibility is to design the overall architecture of the machine control system. You will define the system’s modular structure, interfaces, and component compatibility while considering safety, performance, and sustainability constraints. Additionally, you’ll account for legal and standard requirements (e.g., ISO, IEC, Machinery Regulation).
You’ll keep the technical big picture under control, ensure progress in the right direction, collaborate closely with various experts and stakeholders, and make critical technical decisions. You will be accountable for decision-making.
You will be evaluated and challenged, receiving advice and comments. You can take all this into account, but ultimately, the responsibility for decision-making and technical direction is yours.
Career Growth opportunities 🚀
This is a long-term project that allows you to deepen your technical expertise and enhance your leadership skills. In the second phase of the project, you’ll build a team around the product, gaining valuable experience in team leadership and stakeholder management. This is a role where you can leave your mark on the industry and take your career to the next level. The career path could lead to positions such as Technical Manager, Chief Architect, or Head of Product Development.
You’re the right fit if you have:
- Several years of experience in control system development: You’ve been involved in similar projects either at a machine manufacturer or as a consultant.
- Vision: You want to start a new project and utilize your experience in developing a completely new system. Perhaps you already envision the product’s architecture in your mind.
- Strong leadership skills: You have the ability to lead a team, coordinate large development projects, and guide stakeholders with diverse expertise.
- Decision-making capabilities: You can make critical technical decisions, take responsibility for technical design, justify your decisions, and say no when necessary.
- Broad technical knowledge: You’re familiar with a variety of control system development techniques, and the following terms are not unfamiliar to you: C/C++, IEC 61131, Code Generation, Matlab/Simulink, ROS, model-based control.
Additionally, we expect you to have prior experience in a similar project, and good Finnish and English skills.
